I started having jaw pain early in 2025. After what felt like a dozen appointments with dentists, oral surgeons, ER doctors, and eventually an ENT and oncologist, I was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma (a super rare cancer that would require heavy duty chemotherapy and proton therapy).
A couple months later, after 38 rounds of radiation and my first round of chemo, that diagnosis changed to Chondroblastic Osteosarcoma. Since then I've finished two more rounds of chemo, had 5 surgeries, and more hospital stays than I care to remember. So many that Savannah and I are on a first name basis with the doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers at BUMC (shoutout to our friends Laverne, Jamie, Levy, Liz, Jess, Jill, Lynden, Dr. Sarma, and countless others whose names escape me thanks to chemo brain).
Before I got sick, my wife Savannah and I would donate to St. Jude for kids going through much tougher battles than me. When I had the idea to do this fundraiser, it was a no-brainer where the money should go. It sucks enough as an adult, but to think of the number of children battling life threatening illnesses is heart breaking. These hats are a way for people to stand with me and help those families that need it. Every dollar of profit goes to St. Jude so kids get the care they need and families never see a bill.
Cancer blows. But you stay positive, you keep going, and you take it one day at a time. That's what I'm doing, and the money I raise with your help will do some good.
